We have a week on/week off parenting schedule, but it’s too long to be away – is there anything I can do?

Sometimes parents will add a parenting day, or a dinner out or visit of some sort, with the off-duty parent in the middle of each week if the week on/week off schedule is too much time away. For example, the off-duty parent may take the children to dinner or attend an extra- curricular activity on Wednesday night in the off-duty week to maintain that connection.
