What are the most common outcomes for a division of personal property (our "stuff") in divorce?
The most common outcomes for dividing personal property in a divorce include splitting items based on mutual agreement, selling items and dividing the proceeds, or using a mediator to decide on contentious items. Couples often use lists to designate which items each will keep, sometimes with equalizing payments if values differ. It is easiest (and cheapest) if the parties can work out a division of personal property on their own.
