Questions

What if my divorce decree does not include a name change provision?

If your divorce decree does not include a name change provision, you can still change your name through a separate legal process. You will need to file a petition for a name change in your local court and attend a hearing where the judge will review your request. Providing a certified copy of your divorce decree can support your petition, and once approved, you will receive a court order authorizing the name change.
