When one parent moves a greater distance away from the other, does the relocated parent have an obligation to facilitate and pay for additional transportation?
It depends. The relocating parent may be expected to facilitate and cover the costs of additional transportation to maintain the children's relationship with the non-relocating parent if possible. However, this can be negotiated and agreed upon by both parents or decided by the court based on the circumstances and financial capabilities of each parent. If a relocation for work is necessary it may be required that the parties share the travel expenses to ensure both parents have a relationship with the children.
