Questions

Why can’t we both have our names on the 529 plans?

529 plans typically only allow one custodial parent to be listed on the account.  It is recommended that the other parent be listed as a successor custodian in case anything happens to the named parent on the account.  The divorce decree can also require that both parties have access to the online account or statements and that the parties share all decision making regarding the use of the 529 funds.
