Questions

We don’t have travel or vacation time built into our parenting plan, can I plan a vacation with the children?

If your parenting plan does not specifically address travel or vacation time, you should discuss and agree on the details with your co-parent in advance. You can always agree to something that overrides your regular schedule.  Clear communication and mutual agreement are essential to ensure that the planned vacation does not conflict with the co-parent's time or the children's important activities. Your jurisdiction may also have assumptions or built-in processes for travel and vacation outside of the parenting plan.
