What should we do if one parent’s work schedule frequently conflicts with attending important school or medical appointments?
Both parents should discuss and plan in advance to ensure that the child's needs are met. Joint decision-making doesn’t always mean equal involvement. One of you may inherently take more of a lead on aspects of co-parenting. Flexible arrangements, such as alternating responsibilities or involving a trusted third party, can help manage scheduling conflicts. Even if you don’t share responsibility, you can still be informed and share in making the decisions.
